Masonry contractor in Chino, CA - repairs and new walls that suit your house
Fieldstone Ontario Concrete and Masonry is a masonry contractor based in Ontario that works across Chino, repairing brick, block fences, chimneys and foundations, and building new walls, walkways and hardscape that suit the house.

Masonry work on Chino houses
Chino is a short drive from our base in Ontario, and I got to know a lot of its block fences, front steps and chimneys back when I did upkeep on rentals around here. The older neighborhoods have ranch houses with brick planters, sun-worn chimneys and block walls running down the lot lines, while the newer streets out in The Preserve lean toward stucco fronts, stone veneer and paver driveways. Parts of southern Chino, including parts of The Preserve and the land near Prado Dam, are mapped in fire hazard severity zones, and since block, brick and stone don't burn, they're a sensible pick for walls and outdoor kitchens out there.
We do the same kind of work in Chino Hills and up in Rancho Cucamonga, but Chino has its own mix. So much of the masonry here is already standing that a lot of our work is repairing and matching what's there rather than starting over, and that's the kind of job I like best.
What we build and fix in Chino
When a crack shows in the foundation of a Chino ranch house, I find the cause before we patch, so you pay only for the real fix.
Older Chino chimneys take years of hard sun. We reset loose brick and rebuild the crown, the concrete cap on top, before rain finds its way in.
Is the mortar on your brick planter or porch going sandy? Tuckpointing means we scrape out only the worn joints and refill them, leaving sound mortar alone.
A lot of brick damage here starts with a sprinkler soaking a wall or a car clipping a planter. We match the brick so the patch blends in.
Chino's wide tract driveways suit pavers. We dig out, pack a solid base and set them, and if one ever cracks it lifts out and gets replaced alone.
Most Chino yards are flat, so our retaining walls here usually hold a raised bed or a step at the lot line, with drainage built in behind.
For brick and stone on Chino's older houses, restoration means cleaning, repairing and repointing so the original work stays, instead of covering it up.
Chino evenings get cool enough in winter for a fire, and we build masonry fireplaces for family rooms and back patios sized to the space they warm.
Stone veneer, a thin layer of stone, dresses up stucco fronts on newer Chino homes. We set it over a weather barrier so water stays off the wall.
Block fences run along a lot of Chino back yards. When one leans or cracks, I check whether a section can be repaired before we talk about rebuilding.
Building an addition or detached garage on a roomy Chino lot? We lay the block foundation walls that carry it, with steel where the plans call for it.
With long, hot summers, a lot of Chino families cook outside. We build block and stone kitchen islands with room for the grill, counters and storage you'll use.
A walk from your driveway to the front door or side gate gets used every day, so we pack the base and slope it to shed sprinkler water.
A new brick garden or entry wall should look like it came with the house, so on Chino's older homes we match brick color, size and texture.
Natural stone suits ranch homes and larger lots here, and we lay it for planters, steps, columns and walls, fitting each piece rather than hiding gaps with mortar.
Pointing shapes and finishes the mortar joints so they shed water. On Chino repairs we copy the joint style already on your house so new work blends in.
What Chino's heat asks of masonry work
I started this business in 2023 to do masonry carefully instead of fast, so here's what you can count on when we work on your Chino house.
Mortar that cures in the heat
In a normal year Chino hits 90°F on about 99 days, so we mix in small batches and keep new mortar damp.
Good brick left alone
I'll tell you when a wall only needs a few joints redone, because tearing out sound brick just costs you money.
The owner on site
I look at every job myself, and I'm on site with our crew while the work gets done.
A tidy yard while we work
Years around tenants taught me to keep walkways clear and clean up as we go, because people live in the house.
Licensed, insured and guaranteed
We're licensed and insured, and every job we do in Chino is backed by our satisfaction guarantee.
Questions we hear from Chino homeowners
How much does masonry work cost in Chino?
Your price comes down to how much wall, brick or paving is involved, how much old material has to come out, how hard the brick or stone is to match and whether the job needs a permit. Fixing only the worn parts usually costs far less than rebuilding, so I'll tell you when something can wait, and the schedule mostly turns on that permit and its inspections. When I come out, I walk the job, take photos and write up what I'd do and why.
How do I find out if my masonry project needs a permit in Chino?
Call the city's Building Division, which issues permits for all work except what the California codes exempt and advises calling to check a project. Its examples of work that doesn't need one are things like painting, wallpaper, carpet, tile and fixing a leaky faucet, so don't assume a wall, chimney or patio is exempt. When your job needs city sign-off, we take care of the permit and set up the inspections, and for walls near a property line we check with the city early so there are no surprises.
How long does a building permit last in Chino?
The city's older permit guidance says a building permit expires 180 days after it's issued, or 180 days after work stops or is abandoned. The Building Official can grant a single free 180-day extension, but only if a letter giving the reason arrives before the permit expires. We plan the work so a permit doesn't sit idle that long.
Does an out-of-town contractor need a Chino business license?
Yes, anyone doing business in Chino needs a City business license, and the city says that includes contractors and service people from out of town. A license is good for one year, so it's fair to ask any contractor you're thinking of hiring whether theirs is current.
When does a masonry contractor need a state license in California?
California's Contractors State License Board says anyone who builds or alters a building or other structure must hold its license if the job needs a building permit, uses any extra workers or comes to $1,000 or more in labor and materials across one contract or several. That covers most masonry jobs worth calling someone out for, so ask anyone who bids your project whether they're licensed.
What causes block walls to crack in Chino?
A lot of the cracked block walls we see in Chino trace back to sprinklers soaking the base, tree roots pushing on the wall, a car bumping it, or older walls built with too little steel inside. Years of hard sun also wear down the mortar and the cap blocks on top. I'll figure out which it is before we price anything, because a wall with a few bad blocks can often be repaired instead of torn down.
