Stone veneer installation in Ontario CA - stone set on a wall that's ready for it
Tired of a plain stucco wall? We check the wall behind first, fix what needs it, then set stone that suits your house.

Is your wall ready for stone veneer?
Stone veneer installation in Ontario, CA sets natural or manufactured stone onto a wall as a cladding layer, over new framing, existing stucco or masonry, so your house gets the look of stone without building a solid stone wall.
Usually you've got a plain stucco front, a fireplace wall or a block wall you're tired of looking at, and you want to know if stone will hold up on it. We're based in Ontario and work across the cities around it, from Upland and Rancho Cucamonga to Pomona and Diamond Bar, plus plenty of others nearby. The price mostly moves with how many square feet you're covering, the stone you pick, how many corners and cuts there are and whether the wall behind needs repair first, and the schedule turns on that repair, when the stone arrives and the weather. If you'd rather have a wall that's stone all the way through, that's stone masonry, a different job, and I'll tell you which one fits. My estimate lays out what we'd fix, what can stay as it is and why.

Can stone veneer go over my existing stucco in Ontario?
Yes, as long as the stucco is sound, clean and strong enough to carry the stone. One stone maker's guide says not to bond over questionable coatings or unstable material, so older stucco may need some repair first, and I'll show you what I find.
How much does stone veneer installation cost?
Installing stone veneer across the US usually costs about $24 to $42 per square foot, a national average for the installed work and not our price. Where your wall lands in that range is what the estimate spells out, along with any repair the wall needs before the stone goes on.
Who is allowed to install stone veneer in California?
A licensed masonry contractor, because California's contractor licensing board counts installing natural and manufactured stone as masonry work. The state also requires a license on small jobs that need a permit of any kind, or when an unlicensed person hires workers, even if the job is under $1,000.
How do I clean stone veneer?
One stone maker tells owners to clean its stone with soap or detergent, water and a bristle brush, then rinse with fresh water. It rules out acid cleaners, power washing and sandblasting, warns that a wire brush damages the surface and says sealers aren't needed on its stone. Check the care sheet for the stone on your wall, since makers differ.
How long does new stone veneer need protection from cold weather?
At least 48 hours after it's set, according to one maker's guide, which calls for protecting the work before, during and after installation when it's 40°F or below. If a cold spell lines up with your job, that protection can push the start date, so we set the schedule with you around it.
How far above the ground should stone veneer stop?
Current trade details call for the stone to end at least 4 inches above the finished soil line, and typically 2 inches above paving that isn't on the same foundation as the wall. That gap keeps the bottom row out of wet dirt, and it's worth checking on any bid you get.
Stone veneer installation and permits in Ontario
Whether your stone veneer job needs a permit is up to the City of Ontario Building Department, which handles plan review and inspections so projects get built to the rules. We check with the city early, and when your job needs sign off, we take care of the permit and set up the inspections, though you're welcome to call them yourself at (909) 395-2023. A permit also brings in the state license rule from the questions above, which is one more reason to hire a licensed contractor for stone work.
Around Ontario we mostly face stucco fronts, entry columns and block yard walls with stone, and we see the same kind of houses on jobs in Upland and Rancho Cucamonga. A lot of that stucco has some years on it, which is why the wall check comes first.
